Top International Film Festivals in Autumn 2014!

Last week we gave you a list of the top Summer Film Festivals still to come. Most of these are now in full swing and as we hit the end of August it is time to start thinking about what is happening in the Autumn.

Film festivals offer a great networking opportunity for film lovers and film talent alike, whether you are a distribution company looking for a new film, looking to snap up new talent, a budding young actor looking for that big break, looking for the latest film investment opportunity or simply just want a bit of the red carpet glitz and glamour while exploring a new country, A Film Festival offers all this and more.

Today we take a look at the top International Film Festivals set to be a big hit in the autumn this year.

International Film festivalsRaindance Film Festival
Date: 24th September- 5th October
The Festival:This year is the 22nd Raindance Film Festival. Based in central London, the festival will showcase over 100 feature films, over 150 short films and a number of web series from around the world. In 2013 Raindance launched its VOD platform, Raindance Releasing, which provides online distribution for the independent and alternative films which are screened at the festival.
The Place: The sights of London are sure to take your breath away, from Buckingham palace and the Houses of Parliament to Big Ben, the River Thames and let’s not forget Oxford Street, one of the most famous shopping streets in the world. And with 6000 restaurants, 65 of which are Michelin-starred and a number of celebrity chefs based in the city you will be spoilt for choice for what to do and what to eat in London.

Winter Film festivals

Zurich Film Festival
Date: 25th September – 5th October 2014
The Festival: This year marks the 10th Zurich Film Festival .The festival focuses on the presentation and promotion of new director talent from around the world, with particular focus on German speaking talents. This international film festival is also renowned for its side events programme which includes the Zurich Master Class and the international Zurich Summit, making the Zurich Film Festival one of the most important film industry hubs.
The place: Zurich is a Trendy and vibrant city, after dark there are around 500 bars and clubs which spring to life and provide a variety of entertainment. Zurich also has a large number of excursions on offer including: The Rhine Falls, a Chocolate factory and the snow and perpetual ice Tilis Mountain.

International Film festivalsSitges Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantastic de Catalunya)
Date: 3rd – 12th October 2014
The Festival: The SITGES Film Festival is a film festival with a difference; it’s the number one fantasy film festival in the world with a focus on horror films. The festival screens both theatrical and low budget fantasy horror films from all over the world. Sitges’ status as the number one fantasy film festival in the world allows it to receive visits from top-level movie stars, directors and producers like Quentin Tarantino, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Michelle Gellar and many more.
The place: Sitges is an attractive town southwest of Barcelona, renowned for its beaches (some of the best on the Mediterranean), nightspots, and historic sites. The town is bursting with classic art deco buildings, narrow cobbled streets and the beautiful seafront promenade is lined with palm trees.

Winter Film FestivalsAbu Dhabi Film Festival
Date: 23rd October – 1st November 2014
The Festival: The Abu Dhabi International Film Festival (ADFF) brings the best of international and Arab Cinema to the big screen, with a focus on Arab cinema and the wealth of emerging and established film talent. The Abu Dhabi International Film festival has become one of the most anticipated cultural events in Abu Dhabi, helping to showcase the Emirate as a hub of creativity. The Abu Dhabi festival is widely known for attracting a number of big Hollywood names, making it a key networking opportunity for film professionals from around the world.
The Place: Abu Dhabi is the largest city of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and said to be one of the most modern cities in the entire world, offering Year round sunshine, excellent beaches and a clean and safe atmosphere. There are plenty of sights to see from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Emirates Palace to the new Galleria and a luxury shopping mall which has all of the world’s leading brands.

Autmn Film FestivalsLondon Film Festival
Date: 8th – 19th October 2014
The Festival: The BFI London Film Festival, also known as the London Film Festival is the UK’s largest public film event. The 12-day celebration of cinema includes screenings of fiction and documentary features, including world premieres and European premieres. There will also be screenings of live action and animated shorts. The London Film Festival is sponsored by the British Film Institute, the lead organisation for British Film.
The Place: The sights of London are sure to take your breath away, from Buckingham palace and the Houses of Parliament to Big Ben, the River Thames and let’s not forget Oxford Street, one of the most famous shopping streets in the world.
