Whether you are attending the Cannes Film Festival itself, or are just heading over to Cannes for a fun filled holiday it is important to think about what to pack, after all there will most likely be a journalist, film producer, actor and television crew everywhere you turn.
Cannes has a Mediterranean climate with temperatures reaching into the high 20’s during the day. It can become cooler in the evening with temperatures dropping as low as 9 degrees. To take full advantage of all that Cannes has to offer there are a few stable items you will need:
Red Carpet sparkle
Even if you are not attending the Cannes Film Festival itself, Cannes city will be full of bright lights and glamour around the time of the festival. Wherever you go, you will be sure to find sparkles, glitter, gold and lots of bling! The perfect way of incorporating some red carpet sparkle into your outfit without overkill is with a small gold or silver clutch bag or some glittery stilettos, sure to go with every outfit for any venue.
Sunhat and shades
These items are not just to protect you from the sun on the beach; they can be used to add a glamorous touch to your outfit. An eye-catching pair of sunglasses can add impacts to your look while a hat will create a bit of mystique setting you apart from the crowd. Woven hats look great with casual summer dresses and statement hats add the finishing touch to that red carpet dress.
Women, make sure you pack your killer heels; Men, smart shoes are a must; you don’t want to bump into a film producer or journalist wearing some flip-flops or white trainers.
The evening ensemble
Silk shirts, lace dresses and sleeveless trench coats have been the top trends at the fashion catwalks this season so far. White Tuxedo jackets stole the show at the Oscars, a sign that this may be the latest ‘Red Carpet Trend’.
From evening gowns to statement-making stilettos and the latest stylish sunglasses, The Hollywood Reporter’s style editor Carol McColgin goes over the must-haves for the annual film festival in this video.
Whatever you decide to wear, we hope you enjoy the festival.
